Venice Area Chamber Votes to Support Sarasota
County School Referendum:

The Board of the VACC unanimously supports the continuation of the 1-millage property tax to support Sarasota County Schools. Quality schools protect our quality of life; good schools protect property values and quality of local businesses.

With the decline in property and sales taxes our schools face substantial cuts this year. The loss of the referendum funding on top of the other cuts would be devastating. Our school system is superior and we have seen very positive results (FCAT, school ratings & SAT scores).

We want to preserve our high quality schools so that we have a local, well educated labor force to pull from and to help attract new businesses, residents and tourists to our area. Can you name a single community that is moving forward while their school system is in decline?

The Venice Area Chamber encourages all Sarasota County voters to vote yes for the continuation of this needed funding.
