Citizens for Better Schools

In 2006, Sarasota County voters had the vision to pass a one-mill property tax for schools. That money has allowed us to preserve the tradition of recruiting and retaining the best teachers and providing high quality schools. Additionally, it has spared our schools from the drastic cuts other districts have been forced to make.

In Sarasota County activities such as sports, music, art, drama, computer and honors classes are still considered as part of the core curriculum. However, without the continued funding of the one-mill schools may be forced to consider additional fees for sports and special programs.

On March 16, 2010, Sarasota County voters will be asked to continue to provide a high quality education for our children. This will not be a new tax, it will only to continue what we currently pay.

Please spend a few minutes, here at our web site, and get the facts about continuing the one-mil for schools. We know quality schools are essential to our quality of life and sustaining our property values. There is no community that has low quality schools with a high quality of life.

Vote Yes to continue the one-mill for schools because preserving the quality of our schools protects our quality of life!
